It's the end of the nineteenth
century. The frontier is ending.
The days of the Wild West are over.
The Industrial Age is dawning. America has expanded as far as
she will go, and it's a time for the country to rise from the ashes of its past conflicts. It's a time for men to figure out who they are, as the world is becoming less savage and more...civilized, calling for a much tamer kind of man; one Jack Johnson isn't suited to conform to.
When the world has no need of cowboys anymore, one little boy, who refuses to change with the times, will become the last of a dying breed.
Jack grew up in a rich home, with a restless, wild spirit that his family never understood. He is torn between the ideals of his strict but distant father, who has always told him how men ought to behave properly, and the glorious legend of the wild spirit. By the time Jack is a young man, there may be one last need for the cowboy to ride, to counteract a power hungry family, and their out of control son who seeks to obliterate a way of life and supplant it with greed and dominion. Tapping into the family's dark history, this evil son seeks to draw strength from mystical treasures and ancient, occult magic. A deal with the devil may end up waking a dark power that, has lain dormant for too long and now, seeks its vengeance!
A tale of gritty, swashbuckling adventure, about the dangerous love affair between a man's soul and the wild. A guns blazing, spirit freeing story of self-discovery, as Jack must figure out who he is, and find the true measure of a man, in order to bring peace to himself and their conflict.

When the cowboy way is threatened by an evil family, hell-bent on domination, things may have to get a little old school
This is a book about the juggling act of trying to behave as society thinks a man should. It blends the ideals of being an old school man with today's values.
It was the perfect fit for my desire to write the Historical Western Epic I always dreamed of writing. The backdrop of The American Frontier and the Old West, as it began to fade and transition into the Industrial age of the Twentieth Century, was the perfect place to set the scene of my Protagonist, Jack Johnson. The world was leaving their wild ways behind and ushering in a new age of civilization and modern conveniences which left the old cowboys behind.
What I really wanted to do was tell a story about a boy who struggled with his man-hood and who he was supposed to be in a changing world. It is crafted as somewhat of a commentary on today's culture and the misconceptions of the 'de-masculinization' of men. It also wrestles with balancing the myths behind 'toxic-masculinity', learning to find your true strength as a man, balancing your wild spirit with self-control, and finding yourself.
